About the Kidney Dialysis Project

As we know, the renal failure patients from rural areas are unable to afford the huge cost incurred in renal replacement therapy for a sustained life. It is pathetic that even in the modern era; this facility is made available mainly in cities, thus depriving the poor and weak of their livelihood. In our endeavor to provide free or subsidized dialysis facilities to the underprivileged people, we have identified that the St. George Charitable Dialysis Centre is the most suitable partner to us, since it has been established to provide medical support to the rural areas of northern Kerala with a dedicated team of 15 medical practitioners. SGCDC is an independent charitable dialysis Centre offering free or subsidized dialysis treatment to the financially marginalized population in northern Kerala.

The Mission of SGCDC is to provide high quality treatment at low cost to the needy by offering free or subsidized Renal Dialysis. The centre is located at Puthuppadi, which is easily accessible to the rural population of Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. Now the centre has started with 11 dialysis machines costing approx. 7 Lakhs each. SGCDC have the capacity to take a total of 60 patients doing 3 dialysis per week per patient in three shifts per day ie. a total of 10,000 dialysis per year, to save and improve the lives of people affected by Kidney Diseases, and to ensure that no Kidney patient will suffer due to lack of funds and or lack of available Kidney dialysis facilities.

The official inauguration of the St. George Charitable Dialysis Centre held on 24th February 2014 at Puthuppadi. H.H. Catholicos of the East will inaugurate the center. H.G Joseph Mar Dionysius, other Bishops from the MOSC and MBM representative Dialysis Project Convenor Shaji varghese attended the function. H.G Joseph Mar Dionysius of Calcutta diocese handed over the final installment of Rs.15 lakhs on behalf of Mar Baselios Movement and St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Kuwait to H.H Bava for the dialysis centre.
